擔任地區賽學生小論文競賽評審有感：什麼是研究呢？

昨天我獲教育局之邀擔任以往俗稱為小論文的評審工作，在這舉辦複賽的板橋大觀國小，有著繽紛色彩的彩虹跑道。彩虹的色條往往也代表多元的尊重。

這次的比賽設定為關懷弱勢，入選作品的包括居住正義、食物銀行、關心身心障礙（顏面傷殘、聽障、罕病）、新住民學生、學習輔導等，展現了議題的多元性，學生更在研究中執行公民行動。

我所擔任評選的工作，首先要上指定網站，在網站提供的入選作品中，按照指定的評估與佔分比例在各項評比給分，這樣便得出初賽入選作品。在初賽中，我們評審有發現很多作品偏向報導，並且欠缺議題的對焦（例如談論了身心障礙的處境、罕見疾病、弱勢者的居住權....。然而身心障礙類別那麼多、罕見疾病的類型也很多，雖同屬「弱勢」的社群，但弱勢的處境非常多樣，一概而論篇幅就淪於列舉帳單）。

有些入選作品相當不錯，但是某項做得不足（例如相關連結、文章冊、影像連結、書目），就是少了某項分數，整個競爭力就難以翻轉了。換句話說，在比賽中，要贏就要每項都要掄得分數。

企圖心很重要。

我這次的任務還包括要在小論文的複賽中擔任評審，選出足以代表本縣市出去參賽的4個作品。在複賽的過程，只有兩大佔分的項目，一個是佔10分鐘的「整體報告內容」（包括小論文內容與口頭、投影片發表），另一個項目是也佔10分鐘「評審口試成績」。

在「整體報告內容」部分，有的學生團隊有將文字內容印成出面資料分送給評審，我覺得這個部分也頗重要的（或許有評審覺得不需要），因為評審若能有閱讀的依據，雙方有可能依據文本聚焦討論。



在10分鐘學生團隊的報告中，有的如相聲互搭就事論事，也有說學逗唱的。有模擬新聞名嘴的談話節目，「名嘴」一一就主題的各層面論述；也有模擬新聞報導與採訪。當然，有的結巴呆板背誦，也有口語輪番報告，轉場銜接流暢，一氣呵成。就競賽而言，就是口頭報告要有精彩、令人想關注的元素。有位評審說，他喜歡從容不迫，面帶自信微笑的團隊。沒錯呀，誰喜歡見到面露痛苦與不情願的上場選手呢？

在另一個10分鐘口試中，我們評審往往能感受勝負立判的鮮明度。

這屆合乎競賽精神的作品真寥寥可數。很多作品都有相同的致命缺陷。

以國中生的程度，大致還是把「弱勢社群」用悲情為故事起點，以「光明的現狀」為論結。其實「弱勢」並非都是失能，「弱勢」之所以成為「弱勢」有一大部分是社會成見、漠視與制度的不足。其中，多數作品勠力陳述陳述「社會成見」，但學生的口語（認知）仍不脫「偏見」（例如談新住民學生都如何；論述「偏差」學生承受誤解，但卻也用「單親」等歸因論定。事實上不是「單親」導致學業低成就，而是親子因結構因素造成忙碌而在親職中功能失衡。即便「單親」，家庭樣貌亦相當多元，不能一概成為問題的歸因）。

在量化研究也普遍出現研究的致命問題：為了論述悲情與社會的漠視，各團慣用問卷統計，但問卷不免提問失焦且欠缺明辨數據意義，無論是問卷與訪談大都欠缺理想的詮釋，得出的結論大致也是與日常推想無大差距。所以，我們看到的作品，大都偏向報導，少了本競賽著重的問題意識與特殊發現。

這樣的狀況，一方面可能指導老師還是指導介入太少，另一方面也是這屆比賽指導老師大多欠缺量化與質化的研究所長。

我們四位評審其實在提問與講評中都針對「研究」的很多層面有所提點了。希望本區能更精進競賽競爭了，盼日後，評選都已達「入選」作品的複賽與決賽，不致再讓評審不耐那麼多。

我覺得我們的評審都有按學生的程度給予評判，但如果說碩士研究生在研究法與問題意識是需要指導教授指導的話，我們期盼有指導老師的「專題寫作（小論文）」也該多給學生關於研究法與問題意識的指引。

而量化研究的操作若要呈現社會事實，我相信我們評審都期待，中學生該有警覺數據從產出到詮釋，該力求信度或效度的意識。

社會常見誤用與錯讀數據以達成特殊目的，中學生的研究團隊應也該有警覺研究限制的能力。（例如一校的普查問卷並不見得能代表全體中學生的認知，但若能跟其他類似的學術研究比對，這樣的推論才有依據）

寫作與作文比賽其實日常多的是，而我參與評審的比賽，就是除了「寫作」，還要有「研究」的歷程和成果。這屆評的經驗是，入選作品大致都在論述與架構一氣呵成，但許多作品的「研究」卻不足支撐論點。

所以，我是覺得好多隊的指導老師在「研究」與「省思（反思、辯證）」的層面上好像沒使上太多力量。

完成於2007年6月

我覺得這次的表演是班上做得最好的一次，因為我們平常排演的時候都很努力，雖然有些地方不完美，但是這也是我們班最認真，最用心的表演。如果還有比賽，我相信應該會進前三名。這次的表演我們班得到最佳劇本獎，這個獎項是我覺得比別班的獎還要好，即使是第一名的班級，也沒有辦法和我們班比，因為劇本的設計與想像，是別的班級做不到的。我在這個戲劇中演的角色是小矮人，對我來說，是有一點丟臉，但是為了我們班的完美演出，只好犧牲小我，完成大我囉！

在排演的時候，我們班的演員剛開始還不喜歡自己的角色，但是演久了以後，大家都慢慢愛上自己的角色了，就連我也不例外。一開始我在演小矮人的時候，不但覺得很丟臉，也感覺很煩，但是久了之後，就覺得自己的一個小角色，也算是一個大戲劇中的重要主角。其實人生每個角色都是如此，就算是小矮人也一樣。

Beauty and the Beast
Long time ago, there is a beautiful girl called the Sleeping Beauty. A big wolf living in the woods loves her very much.

Big wolf: She’s so beautiful. I will make her fall in love with me, and marry me.
(The big wolf comes to a powerful but forgettable wizard)
Big Wolf: Oh, my god. So many people.

(One hour later)
Big Wolf: Finally it’s my turn. I want to go to the restroom. What should I do?
Little Red Riding Hood: Let me help you.
Big Wolf: Really! Great. Wait a second. I’ll be right back.
(during the waiting)
Little dwarf A: Excuse me. Would you allow my friends and I to cut in the line?
Little Red Riding Hood: No problem.
(The other six little dwarfs cut in the line)
Big Wolf: How come there are so many people coming in my way.
Little Red Riding Hood (run away): Bye~
Big Wolf: You…

(two hours later)
Big Wolf: Hu… Finally it’s really my turn.
Wizard: What’s up?
Big Wolf: Well…
Wizard: Oh, I see. (the wizard takes out a catalogue)
Wizard: What do you need?
Big Wolf: Huml, I don’t know.
Wizard: How about a candy house? An old wizard ordered one today.
Big Wolf: I don’t want Sleeping Beauty to become fat.
Wizard: Then, how about glass shoes?
Big Wolf: I don’t know how big her feet are!
Wizard: What exactly do you want? An apple?
Big Wolf: An apple? I heard she likes apples. OK.
Wizard: Then, what should I add into the apple?
Big Wolf: Medicine that makes her fall in love with me.
Wizard: No problem. Come to me tomorrow.
Big Wolf: Great. See you.

(As Big Wolf leaves the wooden house, suddenly the mother of the seven little sheep rushes out)
Mother sheep: You, stop!
Big Wolf: Who is calling? (turn around)
Mother sheep: That’s right. It’s you.
Big Wolf: What!
Mother sheep: You god dame wolf.
Big Wolf: What have I done?
Mother sheep: You ate my child last time.
Big Wolf: Your child?
Mother sheep: Yes. Let me teach you a good lesson. (hit big wolf)
Big Wolf: Help~ Hold on a second, Ms.. I am not the wolf you are talking about.
Mother sheep: Who the hell are you?
Big Wolf: The one you talk about is my cousin, not me.
Mother sheep: Really? It doesn’t matter. You wolves are all evildoers. (keep beating Big Wolf)

(next morning)
Big Wolf: Wizard, here I come for the apple you promise.
Wizard: OK. Wait a second. Take it. The only thing you need to do is make her eat this apple.
Big Wolf: I see.

(Big wolf takes the apple happily to see Sleeping Beauty)
Big Wolf: Sleeping Beauty ~~ Sleeping Beauty ~~
Sleeping Beauty: Who is calling?
Big Wolf: How are you doing? I am someone living near by.
Sleeping Beauty: Oh, anything wrong?
Big Wolf: This apple is from my farm. I’d like to send it to you.
Sleeping Beauty: Really? Thanks. (take the apple)
Big Wolf: You may eat it now.
Sleeping Beauty (bite the apple): Hum…
Big Wolf: Is it delicious?
Sleeping Beauty: Yes, but I feel a little sleepy. (fall down)
Big Wolf: Sleeping Beauty ~ Sleeping Beauty ~ (shake Sleeping Beauty) What should I do? The witch!

(Big Wolf comes to the wizard in a haste)
Big Wolf: Wizard ~ Wizard ~
Wizard: What? Did you make it?
Big Wolf: Sleeping Beauty fell down. What should I do?
Wizard: How come?
Big Wolf: Well…
(Wizard takes the bottle on the table and has a look)
Wizard: Oh, my god!
Big Wolf: What’s wrong?
Wizard: I added the wrong medicine “Love Sleeping Drop” into the apple.
Big Wolf: What’s that?
Wizard: You’ll fall asleep after taking it.
Big Wolf: So…She just falls asleep. That’s relieving. Then, how can I wake her up?
Wizard: Let me see. (scan her magic book) The only way to wake her up is “kiss her,” and she’ll fall in love with the man she first sees.
Big Wolf: Wonderful! Bye ~ (rush away)
Wizard: Hey, there are some after effects I haven’t told you.

(Big Wolf runs to Sleeping Beauty. While he is about to kiss Sleeping Beauty…)
Prince Charming: Hold On.
Big Wolf: Who are you?
Prince Charming: You don’t know me?! I am the most handsome prince in the world – Prince Charming.
Big Wolf: So what! I am the most handsome animal in the world.
Prince Charming: Have a fight with me!
Big Wolf: No problem.
(After three-day fighting, Prince Charming won, and he kissed Sleeping Beauty)
Sleeping Beauty: Where am I? (see Prince Charming, and hold him) I love you.
(Hereafter, Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty live happily together forever.)

Wizard: Big Wolf, what happened to you? (Big Wolf tells the wizard what happened)
Wizard: You are lucky not to be with Sleeping Beauty now.
Big Wolf: Why?
Wizard: The medicine has an after effect; that is, every time when the moon turns full, Sleeping Beauty will become Shrek.

(In the palace) (Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty are taking a walk in the garden. The moon comes out, and suddenly Sleeping Beauty can’t stop convulsing)
Prince Charming: What’s wrong, baby?
Bum
Sleeping Beauty turns into Shrek.
